This initiative will support young people to harness their lived expertise to generate solutions that tackle the systemic barriers they face. Mia grew up in a lower socio economic area and strives to create change that will positively impact many. After seeing how broken the system truly is and working within the youth and community sector she knew what she wanted to do. Making a positive impact and creating services, systems, spaces, policies and procedures alongside those impacted which align with her morals and values. Mia strives to create spaces that are genuine, meaningful, purposeful and open to all young people with a focus on those who have been left to fall through the gaps in the system.
I’m part of the Ecodia journey as I am passionate about genuine, meaningful and safe spaces. As a youth ambassador I am able to extend my work further and work within a space that truly values people, authenticity and timely and meaningful actions. Being part of a space that recognises mine and other young people’s lived experience and knowledge is refreshing. I hope by being part of this space and working together as a group we are able to create nation wide change where systems and services are created alongside those impacted and made and operating genuinely for the people and create positive change to both individuals and larger communities.
