When we see rubbish on the side of the road, we don't just walk past it. When they say "someone should do something about that," we become that someone. When they tell us "that's just how the world works," we start building a different world.
We're a conscious, intentional, and rational community of people from all walks of life, coming together to ensure a better future for people, planet, and youth.
But what does that actually mean?
It means we stopped waiting for permission to make change. It means we rejected the idea that profit matters more than people. It means we're building something that no one thought was possible, in ways no one thought would work, in such a short time that no one saw it coming.
Originally, Ecodia was named "Reversing P.O.P.P.Y", which stood for "Reversing Profit, Over People, Planet and Youth." This was an ironic gesture in reference to reversing the order in which most of the world prioritises parts of our society today.
Wanting to make the cause more appealing, Tate moved to a more accessible branding scheme, whilst still holding the primary idea, a critique on modern society: Ecodia
Before becoming an official organisation, Tate was a massive advocate for environmental, social, economic and political revolution. Channelling this passion, (and not wanting to get arrested for more erratic means of change) Tate decided to go down the path of organised revolution, through supportive, sustainable and positive change-making.
There's no pre-written template to get to where we want to be. This is uncharted territory. If this were an expedition across the world, we'd be heading through places we know and places we don't. There are systems that are familiar, concepts we know a lot about, but the end goal is unimaginable to a lot of the population.
Thus, we created the Ecodia Era's, a 6 stage roadmap that ends with the creation of our ultimate goal, the Ecodia purpose -driven eco-district. Each era covers the progress, achievements and projects we'll undertake in each year. Each year we take on a signature project which we've named our "Catalyst Projects". These aim to ignite massive lasting change in the area of focus for that era, bigger than all our other projects, and bigger than anything we've seen before. We started in 2025 (SPARK) and as time goes on we'll work our way through the SEED, RIPPLE, QUAKE, DAWN and DREAM stages.
