Overview
We use a minimal, purpose-led set of cookies and similar technologies to operate our Services, protect users, and improve performance and accessibility. This page explains what we use and how you can control it.
This policy supplements our Privacy Policy and applies across Ecodia Alive, STUDIO, WattleOS, ECO Local, Launchpad, EOS, and related sites/apps.
Technologies We Use
Storage & Identifiers
- Cookies: session continuity, preferences, security.
- Local/Session Storage: role/theme preferences, feature flags.
- IndexedDB: optional offline caches for performance/accessibility.
Signals
- Pixel beacons: delivery/open tracking for essential emails (e.g., account verification, receipts).
- Diagnostics: crash/error telemetry when enabled (see Sentry note in Subprocessors).
Categories of Cookies We Use
We use the following categories:
- Strictly Necessary: login/session tokens, CSRF protection, fraud/abuse prevention, load balancing.
- Preferences: role selection, language, theme, accessibility settings.
- Analytics (basic, de-identified where possible): feature usage, performance, reliability.
We avoid invasive tracking. Student PI is not used for targeted ads. See “Advertising & Student Protections.”
Third-Party Cookies & SDKs
Third-party providers may place or read cookies when integrated into our Services:
- Vercel & Cloudflare: CDN/edge performance and security.
- Google Cloud: operational logging and session routing.
- Stripe / AWS SES: payments and transactional email delivery reliability.
- Sentry (if enabled): error/performance telemetry (see in-product toggle/notice).
- Map tiles (OSM/bagO/Esri): HTTP requests for basemap imagery may include IP and user-agent.
For the full vendor list, purposes, and regions, see /legal/subprocessors.
Your Choices & Controls
You control optional cookies in-product and via your browser:
- In-product controls: toggle non-essential analytics and manage preferences under Privacy Settings.
- Browser settings: block or delete cookies; note that disabling necessary cookies may break sign-in and core features.
- Email settings: disable remote image loading to limit open tracking in some clients.
Analytics & Measurement
We run basic, privacy-minded analytics to understand reliability, performance hotspots, and feature adoption. Where feasible, analytics are de-identified/aggregated.
- No sale of personal information.
- No targeted advertising based on student data.
- Opt-out is available for non-essential analytics via in-product controls.
Advertising & Student Protections
We do not run cross-context behavioural advertising using student personal information. ECO Local partner offers are contextual (e.g., school program participation) and not based on third-party tracking profiles.
Cookie Duration & Retention
Cookie lifetimes vary by purpose. Session cookies expire when you sign out or close the browser. Preferences may persist longer so you don’t have to reconfigure on each visit. Diagnostics data is retained only as long as needed for security and reliability, then deleted or de-identified.
Do Not Track
Many browsers offer “Do Not Track” (DNT). There’s no common standard, but we avoid cross-site tracking and honour our own in-product analytics opt-out irrespective of DNT.
International Data Transfers
Cookies may be read or set by providers processing data in Australia and other regions where we operate. We implement contractual safeguards and regional controls where available. See our Privacy Policy and Subprocessors page for details.
Children & Students
For school-directed experiences, we minimise cookies and do not use student personal information for targeted advertising. Guardians and schools can request access, correction, or deletion through our support channels.
Changes to This Policy
We’ll update this policy as technologies or regulations evolve. We’ll post changes here and, where appropriate, notify you in-product or by email.
